My names Alisha but the majority of the world calls me Lishy, it’s a nickname I’ve had since I was wee and it’s stuck around ever since! I have no preference of what you call me, just don’t call me late because it’s not going to happen!
I am based out of Calgary but I love exploring and experiencing other places. For me, the mountains are home and I’m the happiest in the middle of no where.
I have a 7 year old step daughter who is feisty, sassy and beyond brilliant. Having my own blended family really makes me understand and appreciate other blended families and I truly love photographing them! There’s a story behind a blended family and I love capturing the moments that make the blend truly work.
I am a covid bride who’s been engaged for over 2 years now and has had to cancel twice, so if you’re a covid couple, I feel you to the inner depths of my core! With weddings being more prominent now, I’m really enjoying photographing weddings and engagements again and being able to show off other couples love!
I have two pups, a pitty with the biggest heart ever, named Trigger and a husky with the biggest smile, named Bessy. My pups aren’t always the easiest to photograph which has built and developed my patience even further in order to capture some beautiful moments with your fur babies as well!
I have always been in love with photographing people, animals, mountains, waterfalls etc. Capturing memories has always brought me so much joy and happiness. Even as a child I always wanted to be behind the camera and I would constantly ask my Dad for one.
Finally on my 12th birthday my Dad caved and got me a camera, film, extra batteries and a case. To say I was excited was an understatement. I remember taking photos of my Dad, our breakfast, our dogs, our home, quite literally anything I could see behind the lens was captured that day and for many days after that. Ever since that moment, I have been the annoying friend and family member who has to take photos of everything and sharing them for the world to see.
When I turned 19, I bought my first DSLR and went to the Dominican for 2 weeks to capture everything and anything I could. It was such a great experience and my camera battery died daily! I was in heaven behind the lens. Fast forward to 2018, my fiancé and his mom got me a Nikon DSLR for my birthday so I could start living my passion again (and I think they were sick of hearing me talk about how much I missed my DSLR)
Now we fast forward again to 2020, when dear friends of mine were getting married regardless of what the world had in store for them because loves not cancelled. I had offered to help them with the photography portion of their wedding because I was not letting them go without physical memories of their special day with their special blended family. We started with a little “loves not cancelled” photo shoot and a few weeks later, it was wedding day. I didn’t expect this wedding day to be a life changer for me, but it was! I was in my element, I was so happy and so fulfilled! Everyone kept encouraging me to start offering my photography to the world and start sharing my work. I wasn’t sure I could, I wasn’t sure my work was worthy enough for the world to see. A little less then a month later my fiancé took me to the mountains and waterfalls so I could do some shooting, by the end of the day, I was creating Trigger Happy Photography! The mountains have always been a place for me to relax and find clarity and clarity is exactly what I needed. Not everyone will love my work, not everyone will hire me and that’s okay because regardless of that, I’m building something I love and it’s something I want to share with the world.
As much as I would love to say I named it after our pooch Trigger, that’s actually not why. I have always been ‘accused’ of being “trigger happy” with my camera. As I was trying to come up with a name, I couldn’t stop thinking of this phrase and felt it truly expressed who I am as a photographer and with that, Trigger Happy was born.
I am big into the candid photos but most importantly I love capturing every moment, even if it doesn’t seem important, one day it may be! I love seeing people comfortable and in their element. Something I tell my clients is, be unapologetically yourself in every moment of the day! If you wanted forced and uncomfortable photos, you would have asked your Mom to take them but you asked me, so let go and just be in the moment! I am also always up for new crazy ideas or bringing your vision to life! I’m not afraid to travel and I love experiencing new places and meeting new people. Capturing memories so they can wow your heart forever.
